Our Specialist General Paediatricians provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and care for infants, children, and adolescents with a range of conditions, including:

  • Infants: prematurity, heart murmurs, feeding difficulties, unsettled behaviour, colic, abnormal head shape, sleep difficulties
  • Skin: eczema, rashes, birthmarks
  • Nutrition and growth: puberty concerns, poor growth, weight management, diabetes, thyroid disorders
  • Gastrointestinal: constipation, reflux, dairy allergy, coeliac disease, abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disease
  • Neurological: headaches, Cerebral Palsy, seizures, tics

David Nichols - Paediatrician

Dr David Nichols 

BmedSc, MBBS(Hons), MPH, FRACP

Dr Nichols completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in Hobart in 2005. He began training in Paediatrics at the Royal Hobart Hospital before moving to Brisbane to complete this at the Royal Children’s (now Queensland Children’s) Hospital and other regional sites. He also worked as the Senior Registrar in the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospitals’ Neonatal intensive care nursery.

Dr Nichols is a General Paediatrician with over 16 years of experience providing quality and compassionate care to young patients and their families. He assists in training medical students at Griffith University and has completed a Master of Public Health.

Dr Nichols has particular interest in infant wellbeing, as well as childhood growth, feeding, toileting, and neurological concerns.

Dr Nichols is committed to providing the Sunshine Coast with high-quality, accessible, and family-friendly paediatric care. Outside of clinic, he enjoys spending time with his young family and keeping active by running and bushwalking.

Dr Will Goss

Dr Will completed his medical studies at Monash University, graduating with honours in 2014. He completed his paediatric training in Victoria at hospitals including The Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s Hospital, University Hospital Geelong and Mercy Hospital for Women. He then relocated to the Sunshine Coast with his young family, working at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Outside of work, Will enjoys spending time with his young family and is a sports enthusiast.
Will is a General Paediatrician with over 9 years experience working with children of all ages, and their families


Dr Will also specialises in child allergy, having completed further studies through Western Sydney University as well as working in allergy clinics in Victoria.
This includes:
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Food allergy
  • Non-IgE food Allergy (including cow’s milk protein intolerance)
  • Allergic rhinitis (including hayfever)
  • Asthma
  • Eczema
  • Urticaria

Dr Scott Schofield


Scott is an experienced and compassionate Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) specialist. He has trained and practised in multiple cities across Australia and overseas, contributing to his matured clinical practice. More than anything, he values the importance of patient-centred care. He ensures he listens to and understands the concerns of each individual child and family and offers his knowledge and experience to guide a patient-focused discussion and plan for care.

As a father of two young children, Scott appreciates the importance of your child’s health, development and well-being.

Dr Nicole Bertram

BSc, MBBS, FRACP (General Paediatrician & PEM), FACEM, MPHTM

Nicole is a dual-trained physician specialising in General Paediatrics & Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She developed an interest in Medicine during her high school years and always wanted to pursue a career working with children. Paediatrics was the perfect fit.

As a mother, Nicole understands how distressing it is when your child is unwell or in pain, and that long waiting times at the Emergency Department or for a Specialist appointment only add to that stress. This is why she is pleased to offer specialist care in a snap!

Kelly Pickett 

BSc (Nutr&Diet), Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition

Kelly was born in New Zealand and grew up in Canada. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health with a Dietetics Major in 2010. Straight out of university she worked as a paediatric dietitian at a tertiary paediatric hospital in Vancouver. Since moving to Australia in 2013, Kelly has worked as a clinical dietitian in paediatric, adolescent and adult settings.

Kelly has had the pleasure of working with families and children of all ages, across a broad range of clinical areas. These areas include, but are not limited to, faltering growth, fussy eating, food allergies, ASD, enteral nutrition support and supporting busy families with easy to follow and practical meal time solutions. Kelly is committed to providing evidence-based nutrition information and working with families to help them choose the best plan for their child and family. 

Aside from working, Kelly also loves spending time with her family, which includes her husband, 2 young kids, and their dog named Gage. They are an active family that enjoys travelling, biking, swimming, playing at the beach, eating out and playgrounds (they’ve lost count of how many).

Kelly has recently moved to the Sunshine Coast and is excited to start her first proper veggie garden, if you have any tips fire them her way!

Kelly is a qualified Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and is a registered member of Dietitians Australia. 


Brightwater Paediatrics welcome Yosheen Pillay who is an experienced Psychologist visiting our clinic every second Tuesday.

Dr Yosheen Pillay – Psychologist

PhD, BSc (Psych Hons), MEd, BEd
Yosheen is a Psychologist with extensive experience working with children and adults across the lifespan. Yosheen worked as a Disability Advisor in Education Queensland in the Brisbane Metropolitan region, before completing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2016.
With children, Yosheen’s interests are in the areas of learning and developmental disabilities and autism. Yosheen also works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, work-related stress, life transitions and family issues. Yosheen is also a Senior Lecturer in Educational Counselling at the University of Southern Queensland. She is an established researcher in Autism and mental health and regularly presents at national and international conferences. Yosheen is currently completing her Masters in Clinical Psychology.
